National Breastfeeding Awareness Week sponsored by NHS is a week dedicated to raise awareness of the health benefits of breastfeeding, increase social acceptance of breastfeeding and promote support for breastfeeding. This year National Breastfeeding Awareness Week will run from the 21st – 27th June 2010. Right now there is no information regarding this years activities but there will be soon.
World Breastfeeding Week. La Leche League (LLL) in the USA World Breastfeeding Week Celebrations encompass five months of events and activities to raise breastfeeding awareness and to fundraise to support breastfeeding in the USA. The actual week for for this year is August1st-7th. The theme for 2010 is “Breastfeeding. Just 10 Steps. The Baby Friendly Way!” Events and activities range for each state. The calendar for this years events are not out yet but will be out soon. We’ll keep you updated!
World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action is an organization that holds forums on breastfeeding and health all over the world. They have a calender full of events and days of awareness.
Mom’s Breastaurant is an American charitable organization devoted to promoting breastfeeding, particularly at public events and festivals. Mom’s Breastaurant provides shelter, climate control, seating, and a less-distracting environment for mothers and their babies at outdoor events. Mom’s Breastaurant was conceived after a New Orleans woman was cited by police for an “unauthorized booth” after erecting a tent over her truck and a lawn chair, in a parking lot near a street festival, for the purpose of nursing her daughter. Mom’s Breastaurant is found as a booth at various festivals.
